Velocity's Family Medicine research site in Hampton partners with Hampton Family Practice to conduct clinical trials related to general medicine and infectious diseases. Typical studies at this site involve medications for acne, diabetes, high cholesterol, and other conditions. This site also performs vaccine studies for people of all ages. Acquired by Velocity in 2022, the Hampton location was founded earlier in 2022 as part of Meridian Clinical Research.

Through the partnership with Hampton Family Practice, the site is easily accessible to thousands of patients around Hampton and Newport News, including those established with the practice and diverse populations. All trials are performed in accordance with ICH and FDA guidelines, and in compliance with GCP.   • Brian C. McCormick, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Brian C. McCormick, MD is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians specializing in family medicine, including newborn care and pediatrics, adult medicine and wellness, dermatology procedures, and vasectomies. Dr. McCormick earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Belmont Abbey College and his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed a Family Practice Residency at Ft. Belvoir VA.

  • Tammy Beavers, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Tammy Beavers, MD is a provider in Family Medicine, with special interest in the areas of chronic disease management and women’s health. Dr. Beavers earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed a Family Practice Residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. She was stationed at Langley Air Force Base from 2000-2004 and entered private practice in 2004 in Hampton Roads, providing family medicine services ever since.

  • Bobbie J. Sperry, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Bobbie J. Sperry, MD is a family physician welcoming patients of all ages, including newborns and infants, children, adolescents and teens, and adults. Dr. Sperry graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and earned her medical degree from Marshall University. She completed the VCU Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program.

  • Yu Kwan Chan, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Yu Kwan Chan, MD has a spectrum of clinical interests that stretch from newborn pediatrics, to managing adult and geriatric chronic diseases, to preventative care, and to providing a range of office procedures. Dr. Chan studied biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University and worked as a biomedical scientist in Baltimore. He earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland and completed a Family Medicine residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, NC.

  • Amy L. Campbell, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Amy Campbell, MD is a board certified physician specializing in family medicine. Dr. Campbell graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and earned her medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. She completed the VCU Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program.
