Kris Kowdley, MD, AGAF, FAASLD, FACP, FACG, is the lead author of an article recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The article highlights the results of a Phase 3 trial of elafibranor for the treatment primary biliary cholangitis, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation and damage of the bile ducts in the liver. Per the study, treatment with elafibranor resulted in “significantly greater improvements in relevant biochemical indicators of cholestasis than placebo.”
