Velocity's research site in Phoenix frequently conducts clinical trials related, but not limited to, Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, and Women’s Health. Acquired by Velocity in 2022, this location was founded in 2017 as the third site of MedPharmics Clinical Research.

The site is easily accessible to thousands of patients, including a large group of diverse populations. All trials conducted at the site are performed in accordance with ICH and FDA guidelines, and in compliance with GCP. The Phoenix team is committed to being a resource for study participants, to providing the highest quality of patient care with compassion and kindness, and to advancing medicine through research.

The Velocity Phoenix team of physician investigators and clinical research professionals are experienced clinical researchers. All physicians are board certified in their specialty area(s) and all research staff is trained in clinical research regulations, including GCP and HIPAA.   • Charles Steven Plimpton, MD

    Principal Investigator
    Charles Steven Plimpton, MD completed his undergraduate degree at Arizona State before heading to University of Arizona, where he completed his medical degree in 1988. In 1992, he completed his OBGYN residency in Phoenix, where he has run his private practice for over 30 years. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Plimpton has served as an assistant clinical professor at the Creighton University School of Medicine, Phoenix since 2015 and conducted clinical trials as a principal investigator since 2017 with a focus on women’s health and pediatric vaccines. Dr. Plimpton is a highly respected physician in the community having earned Phoenix Magazine’s “Top Docs” award four times.

  • Carlos Lopez, MD

    Sub Investigator
    Carlos Lopez, MD graduated from medical school in Montemorelos, Mexico in August 1992. He has been a pediatrician since 1999 after he graduated from Pediatric Training Program at Texas Tech University. Dr. Lopez opened his private practice in Phoenix in 2001. Dr. Lopez began working in research in 2017 with a focus on women’s health and pediatric vaccine trials. His hobbies include reading, outdoor activities, and music. He also fluently speaks Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. He loves to spend time with his family and kids.
